Reverend Dr. Ja-Neair Macklin (Jay)

Ja-Neair (Jay) Macklin, is a long time Delaware resident, recognized as an outstanding community leader and public servant. Reverend Dr. Macklin is an ordained Pastor, by the world – wide ministry of Pastor Rod Parsley of Columbus, Ohio. Locally, she serves on the ministerial team of Dr. Edward Cross of New Community Church, in Wilmington, Delaware.

 

Macklin was raised on the Eastside of Wilmington, Delaware in the neighborhood surrounding Old Swedes Episcopal Church.  From the age of 8 years old, until college, her family attended Old Swedes Church.  It was there that she developed a great love for community, faith and history. Throughout her formative years, she was involved in the life and work of the church as an Episcopal Diocese Council member, volunteer curator, youth leader and church lay reader.

 

She has been on the cutting-edge and in the fore-front of many dynamic initiatives, community programs and projects in the City of Wilmington, throughout Delaware, in other states and countries. She has the distinct honor of being named a Distinguished African American in Delaware in the field of Religion and Community Service, by the Delaware Department of Historical and Cultural Affairs. She has been honored by Black Achievers in Business and Industry, The National Association of University Women and many others. With many years of experience in government, ministry, banking, education and non-profit leadership, she has become a sought-out mentor and a voice for community empowerment. She has earned degrees, BS in Secondary Education, and BA, MA, Th.D. in Theology Education.

 

Her passion to promote peace and prosperity for people everywhere has been the driving force behind founding, developing and funding many faith-based and human service organizations including: The Circle of Love Human Service Network, the Maximized Manhood Program, and many others. For almost 10 years she volunteered as a Delaware Financial Literacy Instructor and in 2017, she became a Financial Coach for $tand By Me Financial Empowerment Program of Delaware. As consulting executive director of Stop the Violence Coalition, Inc. /Academy for Peace, for 20 years, Jay has made valuable contributions to the City of Wilmington. In 2010 she was honored by the Board of Directors of Stop the Violence Coalition, Inc., when they named their annual community service award the; “Rev. Dr. Ja-Neair Macklin, Excellence in Community Service Award” she was the first recipient of that award, for her dedicated service, and passion for peaceful living and promoting life-affirming activities and programs for youth and families.

 

In 2011, as a founder and developer of The Direct Sales and Home Based Business Network, Jay was named Home Based Business Champion of the year for Delaware and the Region by the United States of America’s Small Business Administration, (SBA). In addition to the SBA recognition for this effort, she received The Kindred Spirit Award by the Delaware Chapter of 100 Black Women.

 

As a mother of 1 daughter, one of her proudest accomplishments is founding the Macklin Wisdom Certified Home School, where she had the opportunity of homeschooling her, 2 now adult grandchildren, from 2nd and 3rd grade until college.
